Road To Wembley- UEFA Champions League last 16 draw

Its that time of the year again, when all roads will convege to Wembley this time. The top 16 of europe's elite are set to feature in the prestigious UEFA Champions league. the first leg clashes takeoff come 15-16 february, while the ever intresting and decisive second legs will be telecasted live around the world on 22-23 february.

A feast of scintillating football action is up for grabs are the European heavyweights that include 3 English clubs, 2 spanish giants, 2 italian, 2 german, 1 danish, 1 ukrainian and 2 french clubs will be part of action starting february.

Lets take a look at what the 8 groups of matches to be played, have to offer.

The Spur-ring Milan Love affair

The Entertaing tottenham hotspurs are the newest chapter of English participation in the champions league. they have entertained one and all with their Expansive, open and end to end football, they have scored a truckload of goal in the conmptition and qualifiers so far, but have been equally fragile at the back lettting in almost as many. but this Tottenham fairytale hais been great to say the least, as they are my favourites  to win the competition. they have been a thorn in the throne of the defenbding champions in the group stage, but they dreams seem to be chasing milan. surely the Nerazuri would be Intemidiated, if not haunted by the draw. Well they better be, as spurs will come at them hard.
We should not forget that AC Milan is a legend in europe, with 7 europian crowns. so all that is expected is another visual delight. milan, with their meticulous style of football will be up against arial bombardments from the swift and counterattaking spurs, who have natural width in their play.

Speaking of injuries, the brazillian talisman, Alaxandre Pato will be back to first team action somewhere in january, spurs, who immediate new joinees to bolster their back four. Rafael van der vaart is also expected to shrug of his knee injury to be back for the clash.
Boasting big names like ibrahimovic, robinho, pirlo and ronaldinho. milan hav to contain thr threat of Gareth bale, who doesnt need an invitation to attack and the improving aaron lennon.

While Experience and an injury ravaged spurs defence favour the Ronenerri, Spurs have enough gunpowder in their armory to destroy the milan defence.

So Let the fireworks began!!!!!!!!

Chelsea vs Newcastle United- Match Report

It Rained Goals in an otherwise chilly weekend of the Premier league answered some very important question about the premier league..... Its an astonishing landmark and quite a spectacular one that says... For the first time in the 100 year long history of the English Top flight, The Premier League, all the 20 teams who played this weekend (Saturday and SOOOOper Sunday) scored atleast 1 goal. Now some of us guys are avid cricket fans and might say that "Isme kya hai..... IPL me roz 20-30 chakke padte hain", but this is highly unlikely in the Beautiful game, Football, and this is like Diwali reviewed of Footy fanatics like me.

So Here is a roundup Chelsea v/s Newcastle Game:-

Once upon a time, there was a Cole "The Goalie"
Whenever Newcastle and Chelsea have locked horns in English football, every time the two teams are on level terms at Halftime. Al tough this looked very unlikely today, as Newcastle were presented a gift-wrapped goal 10 minutes into the start of the match when Peter Cech misread an alex back pass and the ball fell to Andy carrol. the Newcastle marksman and the england international needed no invitation to stick the ball into the back of the net.
For most of the second half, it appeared that the dark clouds are following the blues, both at Stamford Bridge and away, but the salaman kalou had other thoughts. The ivorian fired past the magpies second choice goalkeeper Krool expertly scoring of his weaker foot. the Blues were back in the Game at the Stroke of halftime.

The second half was when the drama unfolded.Everyone who follows football knows that the Chelesea of recent times have 6 or 7 gears to their game, if iam not understating. so as expected, the blues started the half looking much better.

The defining moment of the match came at 60', when Ashley Cole stopped a pile driver of a strike from Newcastle's Wayne Routledge on the goal-line. it was the second act of stupidity from Peter cech that had pushed cole into the Heriocs.

Altough the Argentine Gutierrez was shining for the Magpies, Chances were falling one after the another for the Blues, who lacked Their otherwise Distinct edge in the front of the goal. While the frenchmen malouda and anelka were keeping quite most of the game, the only chances Newcastle were able to create were for Set pieces which were conceded by Ivanovic with his silly fouls over shola ameobi and the Substitute striker Niall Ranger.

Altough the Magpie's Second choice goalie, Krool made some good saves to keep his team in the match, Chelsea squandered many chances.

My verdict is 2 points dropped by the blues, which could prove costly for them, and their Dictator cum owner Roman Abrahimovich, who recently fired Chelsea's ever present Ray Wilkins.

The final Score was 1-1, which doesn't reflect on an otherwise interesting spectacle on SOOOOOOOOOOPER SUNDAY.

Super Sunday preview- Chelsea VS Newcastle United

This Sunday of the premier league has dished up two mouthwatering matches...... first of which is the clash of the Champions..... the Premier league supreme’s take the division two champions, the magpies. here is a sneak peek into what this first clash of the SOOOOper SUNDAY has to offer....

Bluess in gloomss:

With two consecutive premier league losses, and the fear of scoring a hat trick, is eminent among the Chelsea faithful. John terry is set to return to actioon next week but the blues are relieved by the fact that alex makes a return to the squad, thereby giving some stability to the defense which looked pathetic to say the least in there two previous league outings.

The Magpies, on the other hand are a topsy-turvey outfit, judging from the drubbing which they received in the last week at the Reebok by Bolton. they are further hampered this time around by the absense of their two first choice defenders Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson. their creative force joey barton comes back for a three match suspension.

the fact that Chelsea are thin at the back might interest the demonic trio of carrol, ameobi and kevin nolan. the match is expected to be an end to end, faced paced affair...

The Chelsea starting eleven is expected to be Cech, Ferreira, Bosingwa, Alex, Ivanovic, Cole, Kalou,Mikel, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba.

Chris Hughton might have some problems deciding the starting eleven(coz im also havin problems doin so :P) but carrol, nolan barton and ameobi look set to start the game.

the final scoreline is very difficult to predict in this game considering the weak back-line of both defenses... so i leave the final score for the readers to guess, but one thing is for sure, the match would be played with a high tempo and iam expecting the Newcastle marksman to give the blues back line to be giving goosebumps.

The MOST CHARISMATIC Footballers Of Present Times

ITS A GOOOOOOOOOOOOL ..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im sure this might come as a real no-no for some footy fans.. but i attempt to list the recent showstoppers of the Beautiful game.....

Adios amigos..... Altough its only the start of the present footballing season.... and there are 9 months to go for this seasons footballing finale.... but the world cup nostalgia is over... (the world cup resulted in my breakup :( ... but dats a diffrent story altogehter). i wud like to shed some light over the creme de la creme of the footballing world.... so here my list starts:-

Forelan,Diego Forlán

last night i saw the athletico madrid match vs real sociedad.... altough i dont follow spanish premiera daty much.. nd i ws hopping thru the internet looking for some live footy..... i ws embraced by the genius of a man who has been rather lackluster since his heroics in the world cup south africa.... remember the man who toyed wid the much hyped JABULANI in SA... scoring 5 loong range goals. by the way he also was the golden boot of the tournament.. i mean literally....
Forelan has found form as he scored two typical Poacher goals the other night..... and has found form recently with 3 goals in his last two games

who's Bale-ing em out,Gareth Bale:

Altough he might not be that well known.... but the spurs winger has become my personnal favorite recently.....
his recent heroics against the Uefa Champs Inter Milan has made hi the hottest properties in Europe this season.... he has given nightmares to Right-backs round the world... the biggest victim being some Brazilian Maicon:-) ..... he tore thru the inter defense as if he was playing wid some 15 Year old boys....
he has scored 9 goals in all competitions this season apart from a piss in the pants feeling dats he gives to his opponents ;)

THE BIG BOSS... Jose Mourinho :-

To be honest... i didn't like Mourinho in the past.... but they say..."if u wanna be sucessful... you can either be a good impression or a horrible warning". He is certainly a horrible warning. Real Madrid sucked the last time around.... i mean com'on..... they had christiano ronaldo, kaka, benzema, huntelaar, Higuain, nistelroy(altough he was on loan to Hamburg)..... still.... no serious title challenge.
look at them this year... the look much more promising.... and they are my bet to be lifting the Champions League this time around. why so.... it is beacause of their outspoken, outrageous, but charismatic manager JOSE MOURINHO.... i mean his teams hav'nt lost a home game for the last 2 years..... and this is big.... the galacticos are unbeaten at home this time and its raining goal at the Bernabau.... thanks to uncle jose.....

Captain Fantastic, Carlos Tevez:
he had taken a break from work recently... and Manchester city were utter helpless .... losing 2 matches in the premier league and the Europa cup. he made his comeback against fulham last night, and surpirse surprise... city thrashed fulham 4-1. Tevez is the top scorer in the Barclays Premier league(The Most Difficult Football League in the World) with 9 goals.

El Nino, Fernando Torres:

Add caption
Here comes the Spanish hurricane.... his rejuvenated form has helped Liverpool come out of the blushes(relegation) recently in the premier league. for those who have seen the recent Chelsea-Liverpool Match, will agree at the wizardry of the KOP front man. his two wonder goals(the second one is the goal of the tournament so far for me...) and another strike against Wigan Athletic last week are positive signs of the Anfield faithful.

Dont mess-ey wid me, Lionel Messi:
Al tough barca are really not going top guns at present.... but the little wonder has silently netted 19 times already this season.

Contdd... Drogba, Rooney, Nasri...

English premier League & Spanish Premiera News

Man City v/s Fulham: Match Report
Lots was at store as well as at stake at craven cottage today. ex Man City manager mark Hughes vs the italian mancini... both managers had a point to prove... with mancini trying to instill some stability and a winning habit and to show hughes how to win matches(as Hughes was cursed for somehow managing to draw every game... during his stint at the eastlands in the last season) and Hughes who is still trying to win over the fans at craven cottage.

The match ended with city 4-1. Cities talismanic skipper Tevez showed once again why he is regarded as the showstopper by his manager.City rampaged through the first half with tevez scoring 2 goals and the argentine Pablo Zabaletta scoring a screamer of a goal from half volley through a city corner.

Gera socored a consolation goal for fulham in the second half... but they were second best thruout the game.....
